Wildwood's David Freese Signs on As Imo's Spokesman

The cardinals player has previously described himself as a fan of the St. Louis-style pizza chain.

The Cardinals won’t be the only ones hoping David Freese can knock it out of the park after Imo’s Pizza announced Monday they had signed the third baseman to a three-year deal as the company’s official spokesman.

The partnership represents the coming together of two hometown products as Freese is a Wildwood native and Lafayette High School Graduate. In a press release announcing the deal, Imo’s said they had been “trying to get together” with Freese shortly after his memorable performance in the 2011 World Series.

Freese will be spokesman for Imo’s television, radio, print and digital with new spots to be produced within the next month. He will also participate in several personal appearances and meet and greet events.

According to the St. Louis Business Journal, they will be produced by MSW Marketing and will include four TV spots. As an added bonus, Freese will receive free Imo’s pizza for the three years of the contract.

Given the last part of the deal, it is likely no surprise that Freese expressed excitement about taking on the new role.

“I grew up on Imo’s pizza,” he said. “It’s always been my favorite.”

In addition, Imo’s will donate $10,000 to Variety the Children’s Charity of St. Louis in a philanthropic program in conjunction with Freese.
