Undefeated Lafayette Swimmers, Divers Surpass Marquette

It was another winning meet for Lafayette High boys' varsity swim and dive team when they faced the Marquette team Tuesday evening.

Lafayette and Marquette High School swim and dive teams squared off Tuesday evening in Chesterfield in an annual rivalry meet, resulting in the final score of Lancers 117 to the Mustangs 68. Lafayette's seasonal record is now 6-0.

Two more swimmers qualified for state Tuesday:

  • Josh Daminato of Chesterfield in the 100 Free
  • Jacob Alspaw of Chesterfield in the 500 Free

200 Medley Relay >> Patrick Vega, Jeremy Bruder, Connor Parsons, Lucas Bruder, all of Wildwood (season best time of 1:44.47)

Added at 2 p.m. Wednesday:

Results of Lafayette divers:  Ty McLean (Wildwood), second place with 159; Michael Porter (Ellisville) third place with 137.6; and Patrick Lee fourth place with 125.65. A Marquette diver, with the last name of Logue, captured first place with 206.55.

Lafayette swim coach Todd Gabel said the boys swam very well for the middle of the season.
