Top Girls' Basketball Teams Head to Saturday's Prepcasts Elite Shootout

Both Eureka and Lafayette High school girls' basketball teams will be pounding the courts Saturday. Follow the Prepcasts' audio streaming if you can't attend the game in-person.

The top girls' basketball teams in Missouri and Illinois will clash in the fifth-annual Prepcasts Elite Shootout Saturday at CBC, including teams from and schools. Admission for everyone is $5.

1 p.m.:  Eureka Wildcats (6-6) vs. Edwardsville Tigers (13-0)

Coach Lori Blade has Emmonnie Henderson at 17 points per game to lead her unbeaten Tigers. The Tigers already won the Salem and Edwardsville Tournaments. James Alsup has the leading scorer in the area at Eureka in Alex Hillyer. This Missouri State signee has a 23.8 points per game as a premier inside player. She leads the Suburban West Conference in points, rebounds and blocked shots.

2:30 p.m.:  St. Dominic Crusaders (7-3) vs. Smithville Warriors (6-3)

This is a rematch of the 2011 Class 4 championship game. Coach Suzie Mennemeier brings the defending Class 4 Champs into this game red hot. Dropping two early games to a seasoned Borgia team, the Crusaders now are flying high as they won the St. Dominic Tournament over the holidays. Meanwhile Coach Trevor Mosby has continued strong with Maddie Nelson and Kristen Stewart leading with double-figure averages.
                   
4:15 p.m.:  Rock Bridge Bruins (8-3) vs. Kirkwood Pioneers (10-1)
 
The Pioneers, ranked No. 3 in StLtoday large school poll, won district last year and have the same, strong nucleus back for 11-12 year. Natalie Fryrear, Dajae Williams, and Lianna Doty have double-figure averages.

Coach Jill Nagel brings a youthful but very talented team to the Shootout. Lindsey Cunningham, the 6-foot-0 senior guard has an 11 point average as a returning All state performer. The tandem of sophomore Bri Porter (6-2) and Freshman Cierra Porter (6-4) bring height and skill to the Bruins.
 
5:45 p.m.:  Incarnate Word Academy Red Knights (8-4) vs. Lafayette Lancers (8-3)
 
The defending Class 5 Champions, the Red Knights of IWA, after returning from the Nike National Tournament in Phoenix won the prestigious Visitaton Tournament.

6-foot-3 Senior Taylor Manuel leads the team in scoring, rebounding and blocked shots. Coach Jen Porter has Jordynn Martin to lead the No. 6 ranked Lancers who dropped a two point game to the Red Knights in the semifinals of the Visitation tourney. In her fourth year, Martin leads the Lancers with a 15 point average.
 
7:15 p.m.:  St Joseph Academy Angels (12-2) vs. Ozark Tigers (6-3)
 
The No. 1 ranked Angels of St Joe are off to a very strong start. Outscoring their opponents 58-38 per game, the Angels have seniors Maddie and Morgan Stock with junior Sydney Stipanovich dropping in double figures each game.

Coach Yancey Little brings his Lady Tigers in the midst of a gruellng schedule to St Louis for the second consecutive year in the Prepcasts Shootout. Finishing No. 6 in Class 5 state rankings last year, Little has Hannah Cook (sophomore) who can play inside and outside to lead the attack.
