St. Louis Rams Wide Receiver Danario Alexander Visits Fairway Elementary

As part of Rockwood's observation of national reading week, Alexander read to Fairway Elementary third graders on Friday. He was joined by Jeremy Maclin, who plays for the Philadelphia Eagles.

A third grade class in Wildwood was surprised Friday by a visit from two NFL players:  Danario Alexander, a wide receiver for the St. Louis Rams, and his friend Jeremy Maclin, who plays for the Philadelphia Eagles also as a wide receiver.  Both men played at the University of Missouri prior to joining the NFL.

Their visit was arranged by Rockwood National Education Association representative, Suzanne Dotta. Students districtwide participated in various activities designed to foster a love of learning during Rockwood Reading Week, Feb. 28 through March 4.

Fairway students were enthused to meet the athletes, and listened intently as Alexander read Dr. Seuss’ book, Green Eggs and Ham.

While this was Maclin’s third visit to Fairway Elementary, he said he was excited to return.  “This is a great way for us to give back to the community, and get kids excited about education,” he said.
