Eureka, Lafayette Send Bevy of Athletes to State Track Meet

Athletes from Lafayette and Eureka High Schools compete at the state track meet at Lincoln University in Jefferson City.

Lafayette and Eureka sent a very large number of athletes to compete last Friday and Saturday at the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Track and Field Championships in Jefferson City. Here is a list of competitors, and how they performed:

RESULTS:

The team shared a three-way tie for seventh place overall, capturing 26 points out of the 18 events scored. The other two high schools finishing in seventh place were Neosho and Raytown South.

The Eureka boys track team tied for 41st place with six points overall; they shared this ranking with Fort Zumwalt West.

The team placed 16th overall, capturing 15 points out of the 18 events scored.

The Eureka relay team of Jessie McNeel, Taylor Schulz, Alyssa Rebecca and Jill Rechtein placed third on Friday in the girls 4x800 meters with a time of 9:20.67.

The Eureka relay team of Paige Biles, Alana Hester, Laura King, Jill Rechtein, Kristin McIntyre and Abbey Waddell placed third on Saturday in the 4x200 meter relay with a time of 1:42.13.

Eureka's Alyssa Rebecca placed third on Friday in the girls 800 with a time of 2:11.39.

The Eureka team of Biles, Hester, King and Katie Grimshaw placed fifth on Friday in the 4x100 with a time of 48.86.

The Eureka team of Eilish Overby, Jessie McNeel, Alyssa Rebecca and Jill Rechtein placed sixth in the Girls 4x400 meter relay on Friday with a time of 3:56.36.

Eureka's Megan Cidlik placed eighth (122-01) on Friday in the discus throw.

Lafayette's Alyssa Shaw finished 13th in the pole vault.

Lafayette's Mackenzie Schweitz placed 11th in the high jump (5-0) on Friday.

Lafayette's Sydnee Stottlemyre placed 16th in the triple jump (33-7) on Saturday.

For the Eureka boys,  Deonco Williams placed eighth in the triple jump (44-2).

Eureka's Ethan Lambert placed 13th in the 3200 with a time of 9:33.22.

Eureka's Ryan Coll, Matt Hentges, Tyler Jordan and Williams finished fourth in the 4x400 with a time of 3:20.64.

Lafayette junior Chris Caldwell won the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.27.

Joe Michaels placed 15th in the pole vault (12-6).

Lafayette's Chris Orange placed eighth in the 300 hurdles at 40-05.

Lafayette's Jimmy DeStefano finished 13th in the shot put (48-09.75).

Lafayette's Cameron Carroll placed 10th in the long jump (20-05.75).

Lafayette's 4x400 relay team of Orange, Khahyil Moore, Devin Hampton and Caldwell finished fifth (3:20.78).
