Help Local Patch Blogger Win KMOX Sports Correspondent Gig

Remember Maddie Marshall's blogs on Eureka-Wildwood Patch? Now she's a finalist vying to win a trip to Jupiter, FL, to do some sports broadcasting about the St. Louis Cardinals. Vote for her before noon on Feb. 21.

When isn't cooking and blogging, she's training for running marathons and interacting with sports. That love of sports just earned her one of the 10 finalist spots in the KMOX Radio and Sports Correspondent Contest to report to Florida in March for the St. Louis Cardinals Spring Training.

Eureka-Wildwood Patch readers met Marshall through her sharing of fun and tasty recipes, and when she as the national show came through St. Louis.

"A friend of mine messaged me the contest information, and encouraged that I go audition," she said. "I went to J. Buck's and gave it my best shot. Who knew that would result in this voting frenzy!"

Marshall made it through to the final 10 for this sports broadcasting contest, based on four weeks' worth of simulated on-the-air tryouts at J. Buck’s in Clayton and Joe Buck’s Downtown. She is one of three females in the finalists' group.

The winner will receive an all-expenses paid trip for four days to Jupiter, FL. The successful candidate will work alongside KMOX Sports Director Tom Ackerman for a once in a lifetime experience to be behind the scenes with full credentials. The Spring Training Correspondent will have the opportunity to conduct interviews with players and coaches, report back on KMOX and be featured on the station's website.

Voting closes at noon on Feb. 21. The winner will be announced on Feb. 22 at 8:15 a.m. by Ackerman on Total Information AM.

There are two ways to vote:  in an online poll by clicking here or by texting votes to 881120; Marshall's specific number is KMOX 7. Votes via text messages are limited to 10 per day per phone number but voting via the website is unlimited. Editor's Note:  Message and data rates may apply if texting your vote.

"I would LOVE to have the opportunity to be the correspondent for KMOX down at Spring Training," said Marshall.

"I grew up listening to Jack Buck on the radio calling Cardinal games, and wished I could one day do something similar. I finally am close to having that chance!"
