Wildwood Teen Wins Dot Foods Scholarship

Sam Plank, son of Park and Kim Plank, won a college scholarship from Dot Foods Inc., the nation’s largest food redistributor. The Planks are residents.

Sam graduated from , and plans to major in business at the University of Kansas. His father, Park, is a senior business development manager at Dot Foods in Chesterfield.

The Dot Scholarship Program is available to children of current Dot Foods or Dot Transportation, Inc., employees, according to the company's announcement. Recipients are eligible to receive up to a $1,000 scholarship each academic year.

“At Dot, we value ongoing education and make it a priority to reward academic accomplishments,” stated Joe Tracy, president of Dot Foods, in the announcement. “We look at it as an opportunity to help educate the future leaders of tomorrow and give back to the communities we serve.”

Sam, and three other recipients, were chosen out of 19 applicants this year.

Recipients of Dot Foods scholarships must maintain a minimum grade point average; attend college on a full-time basis; and meet other requirements to remain eligible for renewal.

Dot Foods Inc. carries 105,000 products from 600 food industry manufacturers. Company employees distribute foodservice, convenience, retail and vending food products to distributors in all 50 states.
