Rockwood Valley Student Advances in National Geographic Bee

Congrats to an eighth grader at Rockwood Valley Middle School in Wildwood, who heads to the state contest later this month for the National Geographic Bee.

Alex Aivaliotis, an eighth grade student at Rockwood Valley Middle School in , qualified to participate in the state level of the National Geographic Bee. The contest is sponsored by Google and Plum Creek. 

Aivaliotis earned this opportunity after winning the Geography Bee and successfully completing the qualifying exam. 

Allen Luensmann, Rockwood Valley Middle School teacher and school bee organizer, said more than 500 students demonstrated their geography knowledge when they participated in the school bee, according to a news release. 

“Alex did not miss a single question he was asked during our school bee,” stated Luensmann.  “He is a hard-working and motivated student, and we’re proud of his accomplishment."

Aivaliotis will compete at the state contest at the University of Missouri in Columbia on March 30.  The winner of this contest will advance to the national competition, held May 22-24 in Washington, D.C.
