Rockwood Could Recover $1.2 Million Audit Says Was Misspent

As part of his follow-up audit report, Missouri Auditor Tom Schweich said the district is looking into legal options for recovering overpayments made to Glenn Construction.

One of the more interesting announcements to come out of Missouri State Auditor Tom Schweich’s follow-up presentation in Eureka Wednesday was news that Rockwood could get back some of its misspent funds.

According to Schweich, the district paid $1.2 million in fees to Glenn Construction that essentially amounted to “double payments” to the construction management company. They were payments twice for the same work, he said.

At the time of the audit in February, Schweich’s office did not make a legal determination that the money could be recoverable, but the district has retained a consultant to look into whether it would be possible.

Schweich said it’s expected that the consultant will deliver a report to the board soon.

“If the fees are recoverable, they will be recovered,” he said.
