Rockwood Administrator Announced in Minnesota

Randy Smasal, Rockwood School District associate superintendent of learning, begins to make career transition back to Minnesota.

KSTP-TV News in Minneapolis, MN, announced Tuesday that Edina School District board members in Minnesota approved the hiring of two new administrators Monday, including Randy Smasal, who currently serves as associate superintendent of learning. 

Edina's board members named Smasal as the district's new director of teaching and learning, along with Susan Brott as the new director of communications and community engagement.

Smasal resigned from Rockwood School District last Thursday at a Rockwood Board of Education meeting closed session. See Patch article:

The KSTP-TV report indicated Smasal returns to Minnesota, after serving from 2004 to 2011, as a teaching and learning specialist/director of secondary curriculum instruction and assessment in the Anoka-Hennepin District, based in Coon Rapids, MN.

"Randal Smasal is a first rate educator," said Edina Superintendent Ric Dressen, according to the KSTP-TV report. "His expertise and experience will bring added strength to our leadership team."
