One of 50 National Gold Scholars Lives in Eureka

Only 50 Gold Scholars were named nationwide in a program sponsored by the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation and administered by Phi Theta Kappa. This local student was attending St. Louis Community College-Wildwood.

Abigail Wood, of Eureka, was selected as a 2013 Coca-Cola Gold Scholar.

Wood, a student at St. Louis Community College-Wildwood at the time of this program's evaluation period, was selected based on scores earned in the All-USA Today Community College Academic Team competition. More than 1,800 applications were received this year for the program.

Wood was a member of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, president of the Student Government Association, a student ambassador and an active club member during her time at the college. She now attends the University of Missouri-St. Louis, where she received a full-tuition scholarship.
