'March Madness' Madness Held at Wildwood Middle School

Wildwood Middle School students celebrated March Madness with a spirit week that culminated with a basketball tournament on March 14.

To build excitement for the basketball games in honor of the annual March Madness, Wildwood Middle School students participated in dress-up days from wearing their future high school spirit wear, crazy socks and Wildwood Middle School gear.

At the end of last week, student teams representing each grade level competed in basketball games, according to a Rockwood School District announcement. A team of staff members also took part by playing a game against the eighth-grade teams.

Teacher and organizer Zach Young said students practiced their basketball skills for months in preparation for the event through Wildwood’s after-school intramural program.

“This was a great day, filled with fun and fitness, and an excellent way to start Spring Break," said Young.

He said in addition to cheering on their peers, students had the opportunity to participate in a ‘hot shot’ competition and half-time contest.”
