Lafayette Teacher Honored by Special School District

Kudos go to this Wildwood-based teacher at an annual banquet last week. She receives a 2012 "Key to the Classroom Award."

Kory Brown, of Pacific, MO, who teaches at in the was selected by Special School District (SSD) of St. Louis County officials to be honored at the annual SSD Salutes Banquet.

Brown was among 41 staff and community members recognized at Wednesday's banquet. SSD representatives recognized teachers, paraprofessionals, administrators and community members who have gone above and beyond when serving the district.

Brown received a Key to the Classroom Award for her creative approaches to student learning, innovative programming and commitment to student success.

SSD also announced its 2012 Teacher of the Year. Tammy Topp, an SSD teacher at Litzsinger School, earned the honor for her dedication to students and her innovative efforts to help them achieve success. Like Brown, she was selected as one of SSD’s 10 Key to the Classroom Award winners.
