Lafayette High in Wildwood Reacts to Intruder Alert

Officials at the Rockwood School District high school responded to an intruder alert that went off at approximately 10 a.m. this morning.

The intruder alert system at sounded this morning at approximately 10 a.m.

School officials said they believe the intruder alert system was activated by a student. "Our typical procedures and protocols were implemented immediately while the source of the alert was investigated," said Gina Tarte, spokeswoman.

Tarte said at this time, it has been determined that there is no credible threat to Lafayette High School.

Update to article published Dec. 8 at 8:40 a.m.:  Lafayette High Principal John Shaughnessy said they determined the activation of this intruder alert alarm was not deliberate; it was accidentally activated by a Lafayette student. "Through the investigation, which included a review of security camera video tapes, they determined the source of the activation, and questioned the student who admitted what had happened. The appropriate disciplinary measures have been taken," he stated in messages to media sources.
