How Much is Rockwood's Interim Superintendent Being Paid?

Former Wentzville Superintendent Terry Adams is receiving $250,000 for his one-year stint, a sum that was recently the target of a "You Paid for It" segment on Patch news partner Fox 2.

Rockwood's interim superintendent just started on the job several weeks ago but his hiring has already pulled the district back into the local media spotlight.

The appointment of former Wentzville Superintendent Terry Adams to the post for one year while the district conducts a search for a permanent replacement  was recently the subject of Fox 2's "You Paid For It" segment.

As reported by Patch in May, the board agreed to give Adams $250,000 for his yearlong stint leading the district. The Fox 2 report also criticizes the board for conducting the interviews with potential candidates behind closed doors.

Adams' predecessor, Bruce Borchers, had received a contract for $234,000 per year in his final year at Rockwood before taking a substantial pay cut to helm a district in Tennessee for around $175,000.

The $200,000-plus figure isn't unheard for the top job at large school districts. The Parkway School District, which neighbors Rockwood and is comparable in size, pays Superintendent Keith Marty $227,000 per year and he also received a similar treatment from Elliot Davis.
