Happy Birthday, Mr. (David) Freese!

When St. Louis Cardinals MVP player David Freese was at Six Flags St. Louis Thursday to be the first to ride "Mr. Freeze: Reverse Blast," they surprised him with a cake for his birthday, which is Saturday.

Happy Birthday to our own hometown MVP player who has strong baseball roots. He was born April 28, 1983, and named David Richard Freese.

While helping christened the renovated roller coaster "Mr. Freeze: Reverse Blast," Freese signed autographs for youth groups who had won the chance to brave the ride with him Thursday. Eighteen members of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Missouri joined Freese for the inaugural launch-ride.

“I have been coming to Six Flags since I was a kid and the roller coasters have always been my favorite,” said Freese in a Six Flags release about Thursday's launch. “I was really excited to ride Mr. Freeze: Reverse Blast. The backwards launch and experience of going up the tower facing straight down is a real rush.”

"Mr. Freeze: Reverse Blast" is slated to open to all park visitors May 5.
