Former Bruce Borchers' Colleagues, Both Minnesota Educators, Leave Rockwood

A year after regionwide controversy within concerning the district's , both of those administrators have resigned from Rockwood. All three administrators—Borchers, Randy Smasal and Nancy DuBois—had worked in the same school district prior to Borchers becoming Rockwood's superintendent.

An email initiated Friday afternoon by Rockwood Stakeholders for Real Solutions co-founder and spokesperson Eileen Tyrrell to Rockwood Chief Communications Officer Kim Cranston confirmed that Randy Smasal has submitted a letter of resignation to the district's school board directors. 

Earlier on Friday, Patch announced the replacement to Nancy DuBois: 

Cranston said Smasal accepted a position as the director of teaching and learning at the Edina School District in Edina, MN.

In the same Friday email, Cranston stated Scott Tate, Rockwood's director of finance, also submitted a resignation letter.

She said Tate, who has worked for Rockwood for the past three years, will become the deputy director and chief financial officer of the Cooperating School Districts (CSD) of Greater St. Louis. He replaces Steve Keyser, who is retiring.
