Severe Weather Observation (Spotter Training) Classes

The Traveling Weather Show will present several severe weather observation and safety training classes this spring. These classes are free of charge and provide information on identifying severe weather, severe weather safety, and how to report severe weather events.

All are welcome to attend. Spring classes are as follows:

  • Level 1 (Basic) class, 9AM - 12 Noon
  • Level 2 (Advanced) class, 1PM - 4PM

The instructor is Michael Redman who provided these classes for St. Louis County and other sponsors since 1972. Learn from an expert how to become a severe weather "spotter". Identify cloud formations that can lead to tornadoes and other severe weather, and report what you see so others may benefit. Learn how to take safety precautions during severe weather at home, school, at work, or in your car. Quality reports by trained volunteer observers lead to more accurate and timely weather warnings! This is information that could save your life!
All citizens are urged to take advantage of this training opportunity and provide a much- needed community volunteer service. Weather observers who have attended similar classes in the past are welcomed for a refresher class. Over the years, Michael Redman has taught over 14,000 individuals in over 400 weather classes.
