Boys Eureka Lacrosse Update: Varsity Headed to State Playoffs

It's exciting times for Eureka Lacrosse. The Varsity Wildcats are headed to the state playoffs while the JV and Freshmen wrapped up their seasons with compelling tournament play.

There has been a lot of activity going on for Eureka boys high school lacrosse over the past week.

Freshmen

Our Freshmen finished their season by participating in the annual Freshman Tournament at CBC, playing 6 games during the 2-day tournament.  While the scoreboard lists 1 win and 5 losses, our boys were true winners in the way they played the game.  It was a tough tournament, but we experienced several "wins" on and off the field. Our boys never gave up, no matter what. They played hard and with heart, until the final horn in every game. We had several very long breaks between games and the boys used that time to work hard, play hard, and grew closer as a team.

The team received the an outstanding compliment from the host team.  Several CBC parents in the stands expressed that they were extremely impressed with our team's heart, drive, abilities, and stated that we had the best sportsmanship of any team in the entire tournament. They were very complimentary of our entire program and how we were represented at their event.  Congratulations Freshman --- we are so proud of you!

The Junior Varsity team also played in a tournament this weekend at Parkway Central.  The first game against the host team from Parkway Central was an exciting game, resulting in a 7-7 tie.  The game went to a “shoot-out”, with Parkway Central coming out on top with an 8-7 win.  The leading scorer for Eureka was Tim Borroff, with 3 goals.  Evan Hosna, Alex Todd, and PJ Overton also contributed with goals.

In their second game of the day, Eureka defected Rockwood Summit 15-4.  Tim Borroff led the scoring again with 7 goals.  Evan Hosna added 6 more goals and Griffin Short contributed 2 goals to the win.

The final game was against Fort Zumwalt, and ended in a 4-4 tie.  Fort Zumwalt pulled off the win in another shoot-out.

Congratulations to our JV boys for a great season!

Varsity

The Varsity team finished their regular season, adding 2 wins and one loss to their record.  The team lost to #1 ranked DeSmet in an exciting, back-and-forth game.  Goalie Alex Pfeil had 25 saves during the game.

The team faced Webster Groves on Saturday.  Eureka jumped out to the lead quickly with a goal by Ben Baker, and brought home an 11-6 win.  The top scorer of the game was Jake Hardin with 4 goals.  Goals were also scored by Michael McLaughlin, Sean Conway, Jake Martin, and John Constant.

The final game of the regular season was a blow-out against O’Fallon, IL.  The Wildcats were on fire, and won 17-1.  Jake Hardin led the scoring again with 4 goals.  Ben Baker and Michael McLaughlin contributed 3 goals each.  Goals were also scored by Jake Martin, Tommy Ferguson, Ben Eder, Sean Conway, and Austin Dahl.

The Varsity Wildcats are now headed to the State Playoffs. Our first game is Friday night at 7pm against St. Louis University High.  The game will be played at the SLUH field.  Please come to join us to cheer for our Wildcats!!
