Winning Scarecrows Wow in Eureka Contest

For all who noticed really interesting scarecrow displays around Eureka this month, here are the results of the 2012 Harvest Moon Festival Scarecrow Contest.

(Straw) hats off to Eureka business teams for this year's creative executions of the Harvest Moon Festival annual scarecrow contest. Their efforts are worth scouring the details within the photos that accompany this article. The scarecrows themes match the corresponding types of businesses very well.

Judges must have had a very challenging time deciding; however following are the results for this year's contest categories:

1st Place – Gershenson Construction

2nd Place – Michelle’s Cafe

3rd Place – Jefferson Bank & Trust

Scariest – Eureka Police Department

Most Recycled – Tri-County Realty

Most Creative – Selbert’s Auto Body

Alright, I've inquired with the Wildwood's planning and public work's director and received someRead More answers. It's not being used by MoDOT nor are there any solid plans to develop it in the near future. His guess was that the property owner is farming it to obtain a lesser property tax assessment.
