Icet is a former Missouri State Representative and House Budget chair. He now is co-chairing the . He said he was looking for a conservative Republican "who can beat (U.S. President) Obama."

"Perry is 'a fiscal conservative.' And this is the guy that can get it done in 2012."

To woo his fellow Texan, Icet said he created a website and is collecting petitions to get Perry into the presidential race. "Perry brings the entire package as a candidate," he said.

He said it was not meant to be a Missouri-centric site. "The goal is to collect names to see Perry enter the race, and to let him know he has a lot of support in Missouri."

Icet said Perry was from Paint Creek, TX, which is in the rural, west part of the state. He said he liked that Perry had served in the U.S. Air Force. "I don't think Perry would be afraid to defend his principles. We haven't had a president since Ronald Reagan who really got into the fight. I think Perry would take on federal government issues," he said.

But Icet joked that he may have to eventually find a different presidential candidate if Texas continues to want to secede from the union because Perry defends state sovereignty. Perry is a fifth generation Texan.
