Wildwood Gets Clean Bill of Financial Health

Auditors for the city present an annual financial snapshot.

Two professionals from RubinBrown LLP, a certified public accounting and consulting firm, presented a comprehensive annual financial report for the municipality's 2010 fiscal year at the July 11 city council meeting.

"We're proud to say, that even in these challenging economic times, the city is still financially solvent," said city administrator Dan Dubruiel. "And that's more than many other municipalities can say."

RubinBrown partner Jeff Winter and certified public accountant Craig White, RubinBrown auditors, issued what's considered "a clean opinion" for Wildwood's finances, citing one small adjustment of $11,000.

The audit reflects significant sources in which the city invests funding. National regulations require audits be conducted each time a city project receives $500,000 or more of federal funding. White said one such project, executed for the Missouri Department of Transportation, fell into that category for Wildwood during 2010.

RubinBrown staffs have conducted annual financial audits of Wildwood for five years. The firm has a customized system for further evaluating municipalities by placing checkmarks into certain quartiles on a chart of city attributes they have developed.

"The chart is one way for cities to compare themselves to peer cities. Wildwood has as many marks in great places on the chart as any city we work on," said White.

Founded in 1952, RubinBrown has offices in St. Louis, Kansas City and Denver.
