Traffic Ahead: Striping on Interstates to Begin

Be aware of slow-moving vehicles painting stripes on roadways during non-peak traffic hours.

Missouri Department of Transportation crews had planned to close two lanes of eastbound Interstate 64 from Jefferson Avenue to the Poplar Street Bridge this weekend to paint portions of the bridge. But they canceled these plans Friday morning due to projected rain.

Several nighttime ramp closures are planned for the week on Interstate 70 and Page Avenue. All work is weather-permitting. Crews will close the ramp from westbound I-70 to northbound and southbound Interstate 270 Thursday, March 22, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. and Friday, March 23 from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Crews also have scheduled a closure of the eastbound Page Avenue ramp to Grissom from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Thursday, March 22.  That same night, they will close the ramp from eastbound Page to northbound I-270 from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. Crews will close the ramp from westbound Page to Concourse Avenue Friday, March 23 from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Finally, crews will close the ramps from eastbound Page to Concourse and westbound Page to Grissom Monday, March 26 from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Maintenance crews are taking advantage of the warm temperatures to get a start on striping interstates and state roadways over the next several weeks. Drivers should be aware of slow-moving vehicles painting stripes on the roadway during non-peak traffic hours.
