Route 109 Will Reopen Tuesday Morning

Missouri Department of Transportation officials said this major roadway will reopen three days early. These photos were taken this afternoon at approximately 2:30 p.m.

Missouri Route 109 will reopen before the morning rush period on Tuesday morning, three days before crews were scheduled to reopen the road, said Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) spokesperson Andrew Gates.  The major artery has been down to one lane or , when Eureka-Wildwood Patch reported a substantial crack in a portion of the highway, followed by a collapsing foundation and mudslide.

Gates said MoDOT awarded an emergency contract to remove and replace a 250-foot long, 40-foot deep section of the roadway between Turkey Track and Christy Road to on March 11. The shoulder of the road also started cracking on March 8, requiring the department to close the road for emergency repairs.

Crews from Krupp have been working around-the-clock to get the roadway repaired quickly. Workers will close one lane during off-peak hours to complete some work, said Gates.  When the lanes are closed, flaggers will direct traffic on the roadway, he said.
