Route 109 Repairs Are Coming Along

Where failed foundation just occurred last week at a section of this major roadway, now is a gap that is 30 feet deep and 400 feet long.

When a underneath a section of Missouri Route 109 collapsed the pavement and everything in its path last week, the highway had to be shut down to undertake a significant repair job.

Despite Monday's snow shower prompting a delay in the start of repairs, the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT)and Krupp Construction crew have made headway this already this week.

A 30-foot deep, large hole was dug by the project crew so that they could restabilize the area. Truckloads of large rock from Bussen Quarries' Antire Plant in Eurkea currently are being taken in to refill the hole. By next week, the crew will use a fabric-like material to hold the new rock in place, then can set about repaving.
