Recognize This Wildwood Leader?

For those who cannot identify this man, they now may sigh with relief. Read on to see why it could be perceived as a good thing to not know him!

As the municipal judge of Wildwood's Judicial Circuit 21 division, Rick Brunk presides over court issues regarding violations of Wildwood ordinances. He was reappointed at Monday evening's Wildwood city council meeting.

Municipal court in Wildwood occurs on Wednesday evenings throughout the year.

Brunk told attendees on Monday that the Wildwood municipal court staff has developed a good reputation statewide. He said court administrator Patti Reust and prosecuting attorney Bart Calhoun often receive calls from fellow Missouri court professionals, asking about how they conduct the program, due to its reputation for running smoothly and efficiently.

"And I'm honored to serve this municipality," said Brunk, who is a Wildwood resident.

When he's not presiding over ordinance violations, Brunk plays in a blues band, sometimes providing guitar and bass accompanient; other times making guest appearances with his harmonica.

Monday night, he announced his band's "latest gig" as being chosen to play for the upcoming unveiling of the Chuck Berry statue, which will be hosted by KMOX from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. July 29. He said it will be outdoor event, weather permitting, with 1,500 to 2,500 folks expected. It will air live during the Charlie Brennan program.

Berry, a St. Louis native, was the first person inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Brennan raised $100,000 to cover the costs of the bronze statue, which is 8 feet tall.

Brunk is a member of Missouri Municipal and Associate Circuit Judges Association.

Judges are appointed or reappointed in Wildwood every two years.

"We appreciate the city's support," Brunk said.
