New Eureka Library Seeing Increased Use

The branch opened two years ago and circulation is up. Do you think it's enough to meet the area's needs?

Two years ago, the St. Louis County Library opened a new, larger branch in Eureka and officials are saying it's being put to good use.

Library Communications Manager Jennifer McBride said the Eureka Hills location at 156 Eureka Towne Center is twice as large as its predecessor and features a collection that is 30 percent larger. McBride provided these statics about its use:

  • Circulation in 2011: 197,414
  • Circulation in 2012: 233,473
  • Visits in 2011: 87,101
  • Visits in 2012: 92,606
The expanded availability of materials is not the only thing drawing people in. McBride also said there is a meeting room and a kids/teen area that have proven popular with the library's patrons.

At this time, the St. Louis County Library system has no plans to expand the existing branch or open a new one in Eureka, according to McBride.
