Last Wildwood City Council Meeting Held at 183 Plaza Drive

By next month, Wildwood city staffers, along with St. Louis County Police Department 6th Precinct officers who service the city, will be headquartered in a new building that combines all of Wildwood's municipal offerings under one roof for the first time in the city's history.

A 26,000-square-foot new facility was built on city property located on the south side of Main Street, across from B&B Wildwood 10 Theatres. It includes meeting rooms, city staffers' business offices, a large community room and innovative, environmentally friendly features that meet many industry Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) attributes.

The building reflects needs, functions and factors as set forth by a City Hall Steering Committee, established in 2008. The committee was comprised of 11 members appointed by the Mayor Tim Woerther and elected City Council members. The committee consisted of eight Wildwood citizens representing each of the city's wards, plus the mayor and four council members. 

Project architects are The Wildwood Collaborative composed of Powers Bowersox Associates, Dennis Tacchi & Associates, John C. Guenther, Architect, and helmuth + bicknese architects.

The exact, new address is 16860 Main Street. The move will start Jan. 25, and continue through Jan. 30. City offices will be closed during Jan. 28 to 30.

Although the address of city hall changes, all existing telephone and fax numbers will remain the same as current ones.

Wildwood city administrator Dan Dubruiel said the target for the total cost of the building is less than $7.5 million. At the April 6, 2010, municipal election, Wildwood voters approved the proposition authorizing the City Council to build a new City Hall at a maximum of $8 million. Voter approval of an expenditure for a municipal facility costing in excess of $3 million is required by the Wildwood City Charter.
