John's Refuse to Collect Old Trash Containers

If you're looking to get rid of your old trash containers, John's Refuse will take them away at your next trash pickup.

With the new trash toters delivered to all North Branford residents (if you didn't get yours, call John's Refuse at 203-484-0281), many residents had expressed concerns about what to do with their old trash barrels.

John’s Refuse will take any old trash barrels from customers starting next week, beginning on Feb. 4 on the same day of your regular pickup. If you want John's Refuse to take your old trash cans, you can put the barrels upside down next to your new totes.

Of course, there are also many uses for old trash cans, too, including a place to collect brush and leaves, storage for landscaping items like mulch or a place to store long-handled tools or sporting equipment.

This blog by Raising Olives offers a tutorial on how to turn a trash can into a composting bin. Care 2 Make a Difference suggests using old trash cans for a rainwater collection system

Tell us: What will you be doing with your old trash cans?

If you're looking to re-home your old recycling bin, this was posted on Facebook (facebook.com/NorthBranfordPatch) by Natureworks "We could REALLY use a new small blue recycling bin or even two-- Anyone want to drop one off for us? 518 Forest Rd, Northford. We'd really appreciate it!"
