Free Class: Severe Weather Observation, Safety Training

This class helps students learn about severe weather safety, observation skills, and reporting methods. It assists those who would like to become a trained severe weather spotter.

Upcoming weather observations classes, sponsored by the city of Wildwood, are free to the public and are scheduled for the following:

  • Tuesday, March 26, 2013 Level 1 (basic): 7-10 p.m.
  • Saturday, May 11, 2013 Level 1 (basic): 9 a.m. to noon
  • Saturday, May 11, 2013 Level 2 (advanced): 1-4 p.m.  

Classes will be conducted at the new Wildwood City Hall, 16860 Main Street.

Through pictures and video, the class is taught by Michael Redman of the Traveling Weather Show, who has presented these sessions for St. Louis County and other agencies for 40-plus years. In fact, he has taught more than 450 classes to over 15,000 individuals.

Free handouts and a Weather Reference Compact Disk are available. Additional manuals and brochures will be mailed with training certificates.

An attendance prize—a tone-alert weather radio—is provided for the Level 1 classes.
