Forby Road Improvements Progress

Here's a photo collage review of construction at the Forby Road area in Eureka.

Last night, the first layer of pavement was applied to the western end of the Forby Road project in Eureka. A multipurpose trail eventually will extend east of the bridge there to Meramec Road.

Eureka city administrator Craig Sabo said the construction crew was at mid-phase of utility relocations along the road.

He said the goal was to make the rest of the highly traveled road as wide as it reasonably could be stretched.

Sabo said the road was decades old, and had been patched up and fairly well maintained. "But there just comes a time when a road needs to be replaced," he said.

Regarding an estimated completion date, Sabo said too many variables were still at play, including weather changes and the amount of rock being drilled into, to be able to predict it.

The current road is closed to through traffic now.
