Flood Protection Project Closing Centaur Road for the Summer

The city of Wildwood posted a notice about the closure, which it said will start the first week of June and last for three months.

Wildwood drivers will want to take note of a road closing that will begin after the Memorial Day holiday and continue all summer.

According to a post on the city's Facebook page, Centaur Road will be shut down at the eastern limit of Wildwood for three months beginning the first week of June to allow for the completion of the road's closure structure.

The project is aimed at increasing flood protection for Chesterfield Valley. The new structure will consist of removable flood panels at the road levee crossing, which will be installed prior to high water, and a section of concrete wall that will connect to the existing levee embankment.

"Road closed"  and "detour" signs will notify drivers to detour via Wild Horse Creek Road. The city also noted that it will not begin until Wild Horse Creek bridge is re-opened.
