Filing for Eureka Board of Aldermen Opens Tuesday

Today at 8 a.m., candidates for next spring's election began filing. Candidates have until Jan. 17 to declare their intentions.

Terms for three of Eureka's board of aldermen are up in April:

  • Bob Berry, Ward 1
  • Robert "Bob" Kee Jr., Ward 2
  • Don Beckerle, Ward 3

Eureka Mayor , so his term does not expire until April 2015.

Filing for the April 3, 2012, elections will be open from Tuesday, Dec. 13, at 8 a.m. through Tuesday, Jan. 17, at 5 p.m.

Eureka City Clerk Ralph Lindsey said all three incumbents for the board of aldermen spots filed for re-election today.

Lindsey said another Eureka resident, Margaret "Maggie" Kloeppel, also filed today for the Ward 3 alderman position.

Any propositions for the April 3 ballot are "feasible but unlikely at this time," said Lindsey. However, aldermen have two more regular meetings during which they could take action prior to the Jan. 17 deadline:  Dec. 20 and Jan. 3.
