Eureka Will Join National Day of Prayer
A proclamation adopted at the Eureka Board of Aldermen meeting Tuesday reads "the need for unity in prayer, individually and corporately, has never been more urgent."
Eureka Mayor Kevin Coffey and Board of Aldermen adopted a proclamation at Tuesday's board meeting to join in the National Day of Prayer on May 2 this year.

This year's theme for the national event is Pray For America.

The Eureka proclamation points out: "our future and our nation's prosperity rests in our willingness to seek the Lord's protection, blessings and generous providence."
It also states the national observance is about fearlessly facing the future.

It states "we need to take this time to ask God to bless our leaders, country, community, businesses, homes and relationships."
National Day of Prayer is not a public holiday. Schools, post offices, stores and other businesses and organizations are open as usual.
