Easter Plea Made At City Council Meeting

One Wildwood resident asks Wildwood staff and city council members to put Easter back into Easter.

During the public comment portion of last Monday evening's Wildwood city council meeting, a Wildwood resident asked that the city's "spring egg hunt" actually be publicly promoted as an "Easter egg hunt" in the future.

"It's absurdity to call this a 'spring egg hunt,' and I'm tired of all this political correctness," said Thomas Loafmann to city council members.

Loffman pointed out that Kwanzaa, Ramadan and Hanukkah are all referred to by the observations' rightful names.

He said that he used to live in Oklahoma whereat the cities called the annual city event Easter Eggstravangzas.

"I'm here tonight to emphasize the principles and truths on which this great country was founded," Loafmann said. "And the one indissolvable bond."

He said he did not believe this matter was a state/religion situation, but instead was about the freedom of religion for everyone.

"I want to remind you that it takes no backbone, integrity or courage to practice political correctness. We, the citizens of Wildwood, expect more," said Loafmann.

At the very end of the same meeting in the "other business" portion, council member Ron James (Ward 6) said he agreed with Loafmann's concept. "I worship God in my own way, and respect other's rights to do so," he said.
