Bow Hunters Ask for Permission in Eureka

Here are a few tips for those seeking approval from the Eureka Board of Aldermen to bow hunt inside of city limits. Two hunters received permission Tuesday night.

Tom Rutz and Kevin Kilpatrick both asked for and received permission to bow hunt on private property within city limits at Tuesday evening's Eureka Board of Aldermen meeting.

A third resident, David Kimmel, attended the meeting to ask about the procedure for receiving permission to bow hunt.

Rutz requested to be on property at 632 Workman, an area in which only two families live, so it is considered a more controllable situation and not as risky compared to densely populated city areas.

Kilpatrick thanked Mayor Kevin Coffey and aldermen for supporting wildlife conservation.

The procedure is to secure an application and fill it out to request being added to the next available Eureka board meeting. Aldermen address each bow hunting request on a case-by-case basis, and may have questions. Bow hunting permits are granted only a yearly basis, due to the possibility of safety-related factors changing.
