Young Driver Overcorrects, Overturns

A 16-year-old was taken to the hospital Sunday morning due to the following accident on Missouri Route 100.

A 16-year-old driver from Pacific, Ashley Whitmore, was driving a 2005 Buick Terraza minivan when it left the right side of the roadway near Missouri Route 100 and Highway OO. Whitmore returned to the roadway but overcorrected, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol report, causing the vehicle to go off the right side of the roadway again and overturn.

The accident occurred at 8:10 a.m.

Whitmore was transported to Mercy in Washington by a Meramec EMS crew. She was wearing a safety belt, according to authorities.

Her minivan received moderate damage and was towed from the scene.

She was the only vehicle involved in the accident, with no passengers.
