Wildwood Woman Killed in Car Accident in Chesterfield

Laura Dunn was identified as the victim in a vehicular accident involving four drivers that occurred Wednesday afternoon on Interstate 64 in Chesterfield, as reported by KSDK-TV near midnight.

Police identified a woman killed in a multi-vehicular accident on Interstate 64 Wednesday afternoon was Laura Dunn, 48, from .

Dunn died after her vehicle was rear-ended while she traveled westbound on I-64 just east of Clarkson around 3:50 p.m., according to Chesterfield Police Department reports. Dunn's vehicle traveled into the path of an oncoming Freightliner driven by a 57-year-old male, James Saale of Chillicothe, MO; the chain reaction pushed her car into a fourth vehicle.

Patch's check of the Missouri State Highway Patrol report on this issue put the time of the accident at 3:33 p.m. Dunn was driving a 2004 Hyundai Elantra.

She was pronounced dead at the scene by Monarch Fire Protection District emergency responders.

KSDK reports police closed all but one lane on the highway for several hours, and diverted traffic onto Chesterfield Parkway East.

KMOV-TV reported the chain reaction accident started when a 25-year-old male driver allegedly hit the back of the car driven by Dunn. The Missouri State Highway Patrol identified the driver as Jeffery Dobner of Foristell, MO. He was driving a 2011 Volkswagen, which was totaled.

The fourth driver involved was a 41-year-old female, Courtney Birkel. She is a Chesterfield resident, who was driving a 2004 Toyota Sienna.

No other injuries besides Dunn were reported in the accident. All drivers were wearing safety belts, according to officials.
