Wildwood Teens Smashed Brick Through Car Window During Theft, Police Say

The two males stole a radar detector from the car; when they were arrested in Ellisville, they had the radar detector, police said. Eureka-Wildwood Patch previously reported on a series of bricks thrown through windows during the same month as this inst

Two teenagers from Wildwood are accused of throwing a landscaping brick through a car window on Castle Pines Drive in Ballwin, and stealing a radar detector.

Dennis Harryvan, 18, of the 800 block of Arbor Chase Drive, and Austin McRoy, 17, of the 700 block of Oak Run, each were charged Friday with first-degree property damage and misdemeanor theft.

Harryvan and McRoy live in Wildwood.

Ballwin Police said that the two smashed the driver’s side window of a 2003 Kia Spectra with the landscaping brick between 9 p.m. Oct. 12 and 1 a.m. Oct. 13 in the 700 block of Castle Pines Drive. They then stole the radar detector, police said.

Ellisville Police arrested the defendants later, and Harryvan and McRoy had the stolen radar detector with them.

Editor's Note:  Ironically, an Oct. 11 Eureka-Wildwood Patch article based on Wildwood police logs that week revealed six incidences on Oct. 1 during which bricks were thrown through windows:

An estimate put damage to the vehicle at $1,141, including damage to the doorframe.

Bail was set at $15,000 for Harryvan and $7,500 for McRoy.

The owner, of course, should do whatever he/she wishes to do on his own property. I'm simply curiousRead More about Wildwood's Planning and Public Work's "guess." How does farming a piece of property instead of allowing it to sit vacant actually decrease its tax assessments? It doesn't change the zoning. What is the zoning of the property? If residential, how much corn do I need to plant on my extra property to decrease my property assessment?
