Wildwood Dog Rescued from Icy Pond by Monarch Firefighters
VIDEO: Look what this local firefighter paramedic did to save one of man's best friends.
Monarch Fire Protection District firefighters just rescued a dog from the Pine Bend subdivision in Wildwood. The subdivision is located off Wildhorse Creek Road.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:47 p.m. today.
Monarch's Fire Marshal Roger Herin said the dog, Gretchen, was found to be approximately 60 feet off shore in water beyond the ice.

"Firefighter/Paramedic Chris Marshall crawled out on the ice, went into the water, grabbed the dog and slid back on the ice, saving the dog’s life," said Herin.

During the 10 p.m. newscast of KSDK-TV, Marshall said it was his first ice rescue.
