'Vicious Peacock' at Day Care Center Prompts Call to Police

The owner got a citation for having a loose animal.

It's not every day you hear a report like this: Wildwood police responded to call of a "vicious peacock" at a day care center. That was the language on the latest Wildwood police incident report.

Turns out, police said, the incident happened on Sept. 3 at the Today's Children of Wildwood daycare center.

"Parents were complaining of the bird while walking into the day care, so the police were called," said Wildwood police spokeswoman Kathy Hencken.

Hencken said the owners of the day care center thought they knew who the bird belonged to. Police located the owner, who went and retrieved it—and received a summons for having an animal running loose.

Police did not release the suspect's name.
