A single-vehicle accident late Thursday night in Wildwood killed three teenagers from the Rockwood School District and caused minor injuries for a fourth.

While school officials have confirmed the victims are teenagers who are either current students or recent graduates of the Rockwood School District, they have asked the names be withheld, pending official notification of the families.

Reports from officials in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and KSDK describe the victims as in their late teens or early twenties. The accident occurred between 9:45-10 p.m. in the 1800 block of Homestead Manor Drive.

According to authorities, a convertible carrying the four young people ran off the road, struck the deck of a house and then went into the woods, were it hit a tree.

Two people died at the scene while a third died as the person was being prepared to be airlifted to the hospital.

No details were immediately available on what caused the accident and whether or not the victims were wearing seatbelts.
