The driver and passenger of the minivan, which crashed into the bus, were Catawissa residents. They were transported to a local hospital by the Eureka Fire Protection District EMS crew.

The van was northbound on Missouri Route 109 and turning to go on the ramp to westbound Interstate 44, said Lt. David Wilson, Eureka Police Department. The bus was southbound on Route 109.

Wilson said they believed it was a case of a driver turning left on a green light, rather than a green arrow light, or simply not seeing oncoming traffic. He said many drivers report getting confused about yielding to oncoming traffic during a green light at that intersection.

The accident was cleared by officials, and the van was towed, in about 40 minutes.
