Man Stabbed Girlfriend in Face While Driving on I-44, Police Pulled Couple Over for Weaving

The woman told Eureka Police that Eldar Gyunashev told her he was going to kill her that night.

Eureka Police Department officers pulled a car over Friday after they received a 911 call about it being driven erratically on westbound Interstate 44. Police said the driver was swerving from shoulder to shoulder. But when the car was stopped, a woman, who was covered in blood, jumped from it.

Police said the woman’s boyfriend, Eldar Gyunashev, 33, stabbed her in the face Friday, and threatened to kill her. The stab wound caused trauma that will require oral surgery, according to a court document.

Police said Gyunashev also was covered in blood. Officers recovered two knives from the vehicle, including one drenched with blood.
