Eureka Teen Injured in Truck Crash

Zackery A. Curtis, 19, was injured after a truck he was riding in slid off the road and overturned.

A Eureka teen was among four injured in a single-vehicle crash on Sunday night.

Zackery A. Curtis, 19, was a passenger in a 2002 Ford F-250 that was heading southbound on the Interstate 55 exit ramp to Interstate 255/Interstate 270 at 8 p.m. on Sunday evening. The driver of the truck, Tony J. Pentino, 21, of St. Louis and all three passengers were injured in the crash.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, Pentino failed to negotiate a curve and the truck began skidding. The truck then exited the road to the left, struck a guardrail and highway sign and then overturned. The truck had extensive damage in the crash.

All four occupants of the car were taken to St. Anthony's Hospital by Mehlville Ambulance. Curtis and another passenger, Zacharie T. Pruneau, 19, of St. Louis, were not wearing safety devices in the crash and sustained moderate injuries.

Pentino and passenger Desiree R. Jackson, 19, of St. Louis, sustained minor injuries in the crash and both were wearing safety devices.
