Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over During Fourth of July

Eureka Police Department officers warn they will crack down on impaired drivers during Fourth of July week.

Impaired driving contributes to nearly 30 percent of all Missouri traffic fatalities, according to statewide statistics. That’s why officers said they will join other Missouri law enforcement agencies to crack down on drunk driving July 3–8.

In 2011, a total of 220 people were killed and 902 seriously injured in crashes involving an impaired driver, according to police records.

Eureka police officers will participate in statewide sobriety checkpoints and driving while intoxicated (DWI) saturation patrols to enforce Missouri’s DWI laws.
