Memorial for William Janes

Visitation for this Pacific resident and World War II veteran will be Tuesday at Schrader Funeral Home and Crematory in Ballwin.

William James ("Bill") Janes was born on June 22, 1920, in Farber, MO, to William James Janes and wife, Georgia (nee Day); he died Thursday at the age of 92.

He was preceded in death by first wife, Haddy Ruth Janes (nee McCoy); two sisters: Lola Lummner and Elizabeth Sheridan; and one brother Johnny Janes.

He is survived by his wife, Millie Pendleton-Janes, as well as one sister, Virginia Nutt (nee Janes). He also had one step-daughter from his first marriage:  Eldean Smith and husband William of Moberly, MO. He had five step daughters from his second marriage: Janet Witherby and husband Frank of O'Fallon, MO; Joyce Katich of Ballwin; Pat (and the late Jim) Ferris of Washington, MO; Sandy Weber and husband Rich of ; and the late Kathy Corbett. He had two sister-in-laws LaVerne Calvin (nee Krueger) of Washington and Dorothy Pendleton (nee Krueger) of and a brother-in-law Harold Kruger of Belmont, CA. He was the grandfather of 12 and great-grandfather of 17.

He was in the the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday 4-6 p.m. at the Schrader Funeral Home and Crematory, 14960 Manchester Road at Holloway in Ballwin. A funeral service follows at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Interment will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Laddonia City Cemetery, Laddonia, MO.
