Memorial for Edward Vierling

Visitation for this Valley Park resident and Purple Heart recipient 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Schrader Funeral Home and Crematory in Ballwin.

Edward Vierling died Oct. 18. He was a resident of Valley Park.

He was the husband of 69 years to Loyola Vierling (nee Knobbe). He also was the father of the late Susan Schroeder, Edward (Chris), Patty (Steve) Beattie, Jim (Robin), and grandfather of Julie Leonard, Tom and Scott Schroeder, Ryan and Eric Beattie, Ally, Matt, Brittany and Blake Vierling. He was the great-grandfather of eight, and the brother of the late Elaine Viets.

He was a Purple Heart recipient, 3rd Division U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. Upon returning to St. Louis after the war, he earned a bachelor's degree from St. Louis University.

He was the president and owner of Taylor Associates until his retirement in 1982. His family indicates he always enjoyed a good joke, playing bridge, traveling and especially spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid athlete, especially playing handball. A true Cardinal fan, he'd like to root the Cards on to their 11th pennant!
