West County Democrats' 10th Anniversary Party

Recognizing the 10-year effort of West County Democrats, and thanking the members for their work.

There was a celebration Saturday, June 11, at the home of Jo Ann Hughes in Chesterfield, who had the idea to form the West County Democrats more than 10 years ago.

The celebration recognized the service of the many members who had joined, and worked over the years to educate members on issues and encouraged members to support Democratic candidates for political office.

Jo Ann has a beautiful home, which has limited parking, but this was offset by having visitors park at the Faust Park parking lot and be shuttled by van to the home. This worked very well. All who came were delighted to be picked up at their cars and dropped off right at the doorstep with their donated food, which was placed with others' gifts and enjoyed by all.

After a hot week, the pleasant temperature made the get together a great break, along with the celebration. Over the 10 years, the club has hosted almost every Democratic political candidate—from local elections to presidential candidates or their representative—at the club's regular monthly meetings.

Annual trips were arranged to Jefferson City to meet with state officials there.

So it is my pleasure to add the actions of the West County Democrats to my blog topics, and to say congratulations to the members who developed the program and carried out the many efforts through the 10 years.

Keep up the good work!
