People To People and Melissa

Behind the scenes of the great People To People program.

My granddaughter, Melissa, made it to Washington, D.C. this past week on a People To People Leadership Ambassador tour. She'll also be going to New York and Philadelphia.

She's seeing lot of sites, and gaining lots of insight into how our country works.

Day 1:  Melissa had a fabulous first day! Sightseeing included Arlington Cemetery, changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, JFK's Grave, Smithsonian (Air and Space), and more. She walked about 10 miles, and it was hot! Best part—found out she gets to see Daniel Radcliffe in "How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying!" Better than seeing Harry Potter! A good first day!

Day 2:  Big day on Capitol Hill, took in Washington Mounument, Library of Congress, Supreme Court, Holocaust Museum—learned about Daniel's story and tonight going to an embassy dinner with the ambassador speaking (I think it is the Iraqi Embassy). Still having a great time. Little homesick, but OK. Rooms with girls from Texas and Indiana.

Maybe while she's out there, she can help the President and Congress with the debt ceiling.

All of the fundraising and other efforts to get Melissa on this trip have been worthwhile.
